Parcels and returns can be given to the parcel deliverer

Ordering goods from the Internet is easy. The return can sometimes be a bit annoying. Did you know that you could save yourself this stress?

Online trading is booming. However, there are inevitably returns. Even if you only order what you really need, the product may arrive damaged or not fit. At the latest then the goods are returned and the circumstances begin. Because the way to the next parcel acceptance point can sometimes be quite a long way. With bulky packages, transport becomes even more complicated. But there is a convenient and free solution that many people don’t know – and it not only applies to returns, but also to normal parcel shipping.

Parcel deliverers also take parcels away

What a lot of people don’t know is that you can actually simply give the DHL parcel deliverers your own parcels. This saves the trip to the post office or packing station. As the company writes in a press release, customers only have to prepare the package as usual. It is therefore completely sufficient to pack the goods and post them sufficiently. Alternatively, you can have the parcel deliverer print out the mobile parcel stamp with a QR code.

The big disadvantage of this is of course that the parcel deliverer does not wait at your front door all day. However, you can order it by picking it up, as TECHBOOK reader and parcel deliverer Marcel tells us. Since the relationship with your own parcel deliverer is often impersonal in large cities, the pick-up order is probably the best option. Be different in the country. Agreements can easily be made there.

It is better to use parcel returns sparingly

Being able to give the parcel directly to the parcel deliverer is a great thing for customers. Anyone who lives far from the nearest branch, is no longer able to walk well or simply doesn’t have the time will certainly appreciate this opportunity. Although the DHL offers the service free of charge and the queues in the branches are often long, you should use the service with caution. You should keep two things in mind.

On the one hand, parcel couriers should already be working at full capacity even without returns. It is therefore advisable to hand over the returned parcels at least already fully franked – if only to avoid disrupting the schedule and the relationship with the delivery agent. It is best to stock up on a small supply of address stickers and parcel stamps. Many online retailers already provide ready-made returns slips.

On the other hand, the space in the DHL delivery van is limited. As soon as the driver has no space, he does not have to accept the package. So any package left with the courier out of sheer convenience could be taking up space for someone else who really needs the service that day.
