In addition to the established names such as Netflix, Disney+ or Amazon Prime Video, there is now Paramount+. This provider also has a large film studio behind it and now wants to shake up the competitive streaming market again. TECHBOOK reveals what’s new at Paramount+ in September.
With Paramount+, users can access content from Paramount itself as well as from various major US broadcasters. A lot of new and well-known films and series are added every month. TECHBOOK gives an overview of what you can look forward to in September.
New series and seasons on Paramount+ in September
In terms of series production, it honestly looks a bit thin at Paramount+ in September. Younger viewers in particular should get their money’s worth with classics like “PAW Patrol”. Otherwise, productions like “The Gold” are also worthwhile – or of course the new episodes of “Star Trek: Lower Decks”.
The Gold (Season 1) – Coming September 14th
The British crime series “The Gold” revolves around the robbery of the Brink’s Mat warehouse in 1983. Back then, gold bars worth 26 million pounds were stolen – with devastating consequences. The main roles include Dominic Cooper and Charlotte Spencer.
No Escape (Season 1) – Coming September 28th
Actually, the two friends Lana (Abigail Lawrie) and Kitty (Rhianne Barreto) wanted to get to safety on a yacht in Southeast Asia. However, they quickly realize that there is also a great danger lurking on board.
New movies on Paramount+ in September
September at Paramount+ is a celebration for movie fans. The streaming service includes over 40 films in its program, at least one per day. There are mainly well-known classics, including the “Rocky” film series or “Terminator”. With films such as “Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves”, however, relatively new films are coming to the streaming platform that were recently shown in cinemas. Also “Sceam 6” with Courteney Cox and Jenna Ortega is on the list of novelties.
Scream 6 – Coming September 9th
The horror series “Scream” has now achieved cult status, as has the mask-wearing killer Ghostface. In the latest installment, Scream 6, some familiar faces return, including Courtney Cox and Melissa Barrera. “Wednesday” star Jenna Ortega also returns as Tara, who is once again being terrorized by the murderer Ghostface. Who is behind the iconic mask this time?
Thelma & Louise – from September 13th
The road movie “Thelma & Louise” with Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis has achieved absolute cult status. Actually, the two friends just want to take a weekend trip to escape their everyday life. However, a lot goes wrong – from robbery to murder.
Terminator – from September 21st
In 2029, war rages between humans and intelligent machines; thanks to their leader, John Connor, the humans are able to gain the upper hand. That’s why the other side sends the so-called Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) back to 1984 to prevent John’s birth – he’s after his mother Sarah (Linda Hamilton). But the resistance also sends Kyle (Michael Biehn), an agent through time, to protect Sarah. One of the most iconic action sci-fi films of all time and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ultimate breakthrough as an actor.
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves – September 30th
As the title suggests, the film is based on the pen-and-paper role-playing game Dungeons and Dragons of the same name. In order to bring his wife back to life and save his daughter from an old rival (Hugh Grant), Edgin (Chris Pine) is on a quest to find a legendary artifact. He gets support from the barbarian warrior Holga (Michelle Rodríguez), the magician Simon (Justice Smith), the druid Doric (Sophia Lillis) and the paladin Xenk (Regé-Jean Page).
These were the new series and seasons on Paramount+ in August
In August, Paramount+ comes up with a very diverse range of new series and seasons, so there is certainly something for everyone. Especially lovers of – more or less old fashioned – cartoon series will get their money’s worth this month.
Billions (Season 7) – starting August 12
The final seventh season of Billions is finally here! Intrigues, power struggles, wars of words – and a heartily hoped-for reunion await us in the new season. But the end can also be a new beginning, apparently two spin-offs of the financial drama series are planned, which are to play in London and Miami.
Waco (Season 1) – Coming August 24th
Based on a true story, this mini-series follows the dramatic conflict between a religious sect and US authorities. Some critics praised “Waco” for its powerful staging, while others sharply criticized it for directing sympathy towards cult leader David Koresh.
Star Trek: Lower Decks – starting August 29th
The first three seasons of the Star Trek animated series are coming in one fell swoop in August. As the title suggests, this spin-off is not about the senior officers and heads of missions as usual. The focus, on the other hand, is on four young ensigns – i.e. those officers who have graduated from Starfleet Academy but only hold the lowest rank. The somewhat different “Star Trek” series starts August chaotic, action-packed and funny.
These were the new movies on Paramount+ in August
The new film program at Paramount+ seems to be a little under the horror star in August. With the “Hellraiser” trilogy, you can definitely contest an exciting film marathon. But the socially critical dystopia “The Story of the Servant” invites you to shudder and think.
The Handmaid’s Tale – available August 1st
Although the German film, based on Margaret Atwood’s acclaimed novel The Handmaid’s Tale, dates from the 1990s, this classic is definitely worth watching. The “servant” Kate lives in a religious-fundamentalist dictatorship that emerged from the defunct USA. Women are oppressed and exploited and Kate is supposed to bear a child for her master. Like the novel, the film deals with different fates of women in this dystopia.
The Italian Job – hunt for millions – from August 1st
This thriller keeps you intrigued until the end. Charlie Croker and his team are pros when it comes to spectacular thefts – until one of his boys betrays Charlie and leaves him for dead in Venice. At least that’s what the traitor thinks. A year later, Charlie finally tracks him down and plans a very special revenge coup with his team.
Three hazelnuts for Cinderella – from August 1st
Although it’s not Christmas yet, Paramount+ plays this absolute fairy tale classic and proves that fairy tales can also be enjoyed during the summer holidays. And maybe the wintry setting can even cool you down a bit.
The other streaming services also publish new films and series every month. Read what’s new on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ and Sky.
All information about the streaming service
Paramount+ started in Germany in December 2022. From then on, you could book the service independently or stream it as part of a Sky Q subscription with a cinema package, as a subscription channel on Prime Video or Apple TV. At 7.99 euros per month – or 6.65 euros per month in the annual package – the provider is still in the lower midfield.
In addition to the increasing number of in-house productions and of course the titles from Paramount, Paramount+ mainly shows the content of the following stations:
- Show time
- ComedyCentral
- MTV
- Nickelodeon
- Nick Jr
- Smithsonian Channel
The streaming service was already quite successful in the USA before it also started in Germany. So you can definitely count on Paramount+ being able to hold its own in this country alongside the strong competition. Of course, it will depend heavily on how quickly the service can deliver new series and films.
