Paralympics in Beijing – before the Paralympic Winter Games: three more corona cases

Beijing (dpa) – In the run-up to the Paralympic Winter Games in Beijing, three more cases of corona were found when the participants arrived.

As the organizers reported, two infected people were discovered among the athletes and team members at the airport and another infection among the other Paralympics participants. There were no cases within the hermetically sealed Olympic bubble.

The Paralympic Games will open in the Chinese capital on March 4th. As with the previous Winter Olympics, extremely strict precautions are in place. All participants, from athletes to coaches to journalists, are only allowed to move within “closed circuits” and are completely cut off from the rest of the country. Everyone needs to be tested daily. Anyone who has contracted the virus will be isolated in a specially designated hotel.

At the Winter Olympics, which ended on February 20, more than 430 infections were found in 1.8 million tests. In the past few days, a few cases have been detected daily upon the arrival of participants in the Paralympic Games, but so far they have been in the low single digits.
