Paralympics day 1: Forster with silver downhill, Maier surprises in biathlon – Paralympics

She had announced medals – and delivered right away in the first competition. Seated monoski athlete Anna-Lena Forster took silver in the downhill at the 2022 Parampics in Beijing. Forster’s flag-bearer partner Martin Fleig and Anja Wicker, on the other hand, each missed the podium in the biathlon sprint over six kilometers – Marco Maier was quite different.

Para Alpine Skiing: Only Muraoka faster than Forster

The two favorites made their mark on Xiaohaituo Mountain. Anna-Lena Forster, the German figurehead of these games in Beijing, was only beaten by Japanese Momoka Muraoka from Japan in the seated monoski downhill – 0.82 seconds behind.

After double silver and bronze in Sochi and double gold in Pyeongchang, it is Forster’s sixth Paralympic medal overall. Third, Sitong Liu from China (+2.33 seconds) secured bronze.
