Anja Wicker gave the German Disabled Sports Association (DBS) the next medal at the end of the World Ski Run World Championships in the Italian Toblach.

After gold over 10 km and bronze with the mixed relay, the 33-year-old from Stuttgart secured third place over 20 km of the seating class in free technology on Friday. Wicker, in the previous week with twice silver and bronze at the biathlon World Cup on the Pokljuka, only had to be the Chinese Wang Shiyu (1: 14: 19.0) in 1: 17: 33.1 hours and her permanent competitor Kendall Gretsch ( 1: 14: 42.1). “The fact that I won a medal in every World Cup race is so crazy“, said Wicker.

Walter narrowly missed the podium

In the class of the visually impaired, Leonie Walter and Johanna Recktenwald missed the podium in ranks four and five with their replacement guides Robin Wunderle and Florian Baumann. Walter, at the start of half a distance in the classic style with bronze, was two minutes behind third place, Recktenwald followed with almost seven and a half minutes behind.

The victory went to Chinese Wang Yue. In the standing men, Marco Maier, who had led the mixed relay the day before with a strong target sprint, ninth. Maximilian Weidner came in tenth behind.

Top ten places for Volkert and Bold

In the visually impaired men’s class, Lennart Volkert with Guide Nils Kolb and Theo Bold and his brother Jakob also took the places nine and ten. Overall, the German team completed the title fights with five medals. The next World Cup will be in the Norwegian Steinkjer in two weeks before the Sprint World Cup in Trondheim will follow in early March.
