Para Alpine skiing: Bronze for Rothfuss, Forster missed the podium – Paralympics

Andrea Rothfuss still struck at her fifth Paralympics: The 32-year-old won bronze in the standing class. It is her 14th Paralympic medal overall. Anna-Maria Rieder was fifth. “Chapeau! The omens weren’t based on a medal, but she has surpassed herself”said the seven-time Paralympic champion and sports show expert Anna Schaffelhuber.

One gold, nine silver, four bronze – that’s Rothfuss’ record after five Paralympics participation. At the end of the games, she will start in the slalom on Saturday (03/12/2022). In this discipline she became the 2014 Paralympic champion in Sochi.

The new Paralympic champion is the Chinese Mengqiu Zhang. She won with a clear lead of 5.83 seconds over Canadian Mollie Jepsen.

Forster frustration: fourth place

Surprisingly, Anna-Lean Forster, winner of the super station wagon and two-time silver medalist, did not make it onto the podium this time. In the seated class, she ended up in thankless fourth place. Six hundredths of a second were missing from bronze.

The Japanese Momoka Muraoka is already celebrating her third Paralympic gold in Beijing. Silver and bronze went to the Chinese Sitong Liu and Wenjing Zhang.
