THE‘love goes on stage at Dancing with the stars in the surprise test between Paola Cannatello and Francesco Paolantoni. The actor and the television writer are linked for 40 years with a stop of a decade which, however, did not affect the feeling that binds them. On the contrary. «One thing is certain: I am always there for him and he is always there for meespecially if we are faced with periods of difficulty”, she says to Corriere della Seratelling this love story.
Paola Cannatello: together with Paolantoni for 40 years
To the newspaper, Paola Cannatello also told the beginnings of her love story with Francesco Paolantoni. The two met in mid-80s when they acted for the same company. «Nello Mascia and Ugo Gregoretti involved us both in the show Figaro’s wedding of Beaumarchais,” he says. Then the work gave way to something deeper. The spark strikes. And «Yes and from that moment on, a coexistence began that lasted about twenty years, made up of complicity and sharing, of life and work».
Not without difficulty. Paola Cannatello, in fact, still remembers the “immense and dilapidated house in the historic center” in which Paolantoni lived after losing his parents. «There was no money for the work or for heating and so when I went to sleep at his place I brought a hat and blanketsalso because there were several windows with broken glass. I took food from home and brought it to him and he always shared it with his dog.”

Quarrels and separation
For years, therefore, the two were a couple in life and work. Then, however, something changes. «We argued often. We were experiencing cyclical crises between ups and downs, and downs and downs. No longer surmountable”tells. Hence the choice of a stop. «We broke up», says Paola Cannatello again. Pointing out, however, that in the ten years of separation, “We always stayed in touch.”

Then, in 2015, they both decide to give their love another chance. “We started dating again” says the TV author. Explaining that today «We are still and always a couple and we have reached our wonderful balance. But I’m in Rome and he’s in Naples, each at home. When I come to Naples obviously I go to him and if he stays in Rome, he sleeps with me.” In short, a couple sui generis who decided to live their love away from the spotlight: “We are therefore not a public couple, but ours.”
No need to get married
And if someone dreams of seeing them at the altar they can also change their mind. «We have no need to get married, we are not a canonical couple, we are fine like this. It’s enough for him to be there for me and I for him”, Paola Cannatello cuts short.
