With their current album BLUMEN I-IX, the Swiss indie pop band Panda Lux is now sending out a real bouquet of flowers: a bouquet of nine types of flowers. On the concept album, released on December 9th, 2022, there is only one song called “Flowers” – in nine different versions, all of which are different from each other. The bouquet of flowers depicts these songs with nine different types of flowers.

The new album deals with “stereotypical images of masculinity, climate change or the difficulty of breaking through one’s own behavioral patterns – presented in a colorful bouquet of songs from nine versions”. The various interpretations include a hyperpop remix, an a cappella choral version, a cover with the West African stringed instrument kora and a live session with a string quartet.

The band, consisting of Samuel Kuntz, Moritz Widrig, Janos Mijnssen and Silvan Kuntz, says: “There are so many albums with different songs that all sound the same – we wanted to try the opposite: an album with the same song in nine different ones versions, each a new world.”

Which flower represents which version?

  • Flowers I original version – “fiery orange marigold”
  • Flowers II Our Ego (prologue) – “simple, delicate white ranunculus”
  • Flowers III Oil into the Fire (Chorale) – “cheerful, small-flowered pink broom”
  • Flowers IV Octopus Pierre feat. Manuel Stahlberger – “unusual purple tulips”
  • Flowers V Sugar into the Blood feat. Mine – “soft, sticky magnolia flowers”
  • VI Always Only More (Remix) feat. Aktomis – “dark centered anemone”
  • Flowers VII A Placebo – “soft, fluffy mimosa”
  • Flowers VIII Infinity (Instrumental) – “ethereal/magic poppy”
  • Flowers IX Toward the Sun (Live) – “Lively Cherry Branches”

On their previous album FUN FUN FUN (2020), the Swiss dealt with topics such as self-love, mental health and the “illusion of happiness for sale”.

At the end of the project there is the video for the live version with the string quartet “Amour sur Mars”:

The bouquet is included with orders in Switzerland; in Germany on request as well.
