Kalle Rovanperä was able to test his Super Formula car on the Suzuka track on Wednesday. The day didn’t go as planned.
Motorsport reporter by Jamie Klein according to Rovanperä had time to drive only eight laps in the morning’s first session.
– We had a rather long break while we repaired the technical fault of our car. Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to drive many laps, but everything is fine now, Rovanperä said after the morning session, according to Klein.
In the morning tests, he was responsible for the base time Igor Fraga. Rovanperä did not have time to drive fast laps and was almost 16 seconds behind the leader.
In the tests run in rainy weather, the red flag was waved due to heavy out-runs. Rovanperä also spun in the afternoon and got stuck on the sand. That was the end of the tests.
The two-time rally world champion was the 19th fastest driver in the afternoon. 22 drivers participated in the test. Rovanperä missed the one who clocked the base time From Ren Sato 3.460 seconds.
It was only the second time that Rovanperä got to test a Super Formula car. The first time in December ended short when the driver suffered from motion sickness.
The Super Formula tests continue in Suzuka on Thursday.
