Chelsea is a club world champion in 2025. In the final on Sunday, the Londoners made 3-0 against Paris Saint-Germain thanks to an outstanding performance by Cole Palmer in the first half. The most valuable player of the blues scored 1-0 and 2-0 in the first half hour. Shortly before half -time, João Pedro increased to Palmer’s preliminary work to the later final score of 3: 0. For Champions League winners PSG, the first goals were in the co-phase of the tournament after significant victories against Inter Miami, Bavaria Munich and Real Madrid.

The English international Palmer scored the identical goal twice (22nd and 30th minute) with his left foot. He overcame the powerless PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma with a low shot into the far corner. New signing João Pedro (43.), who had only joined his new team in the course of the tournament for the quarter -finals, increased with a technically fine lupfer over Donnarumma on preparatory work by Palmer. Chelsea’s strong-hold goalkeeper Robert Sanchez prevented a possible comeback from the Champions League winner twice with parades against João Neves (45.+2) and striker Ousmane Dembélé (52nd).

In the final phase, PSG professional Neves (86th) saw the red card because of a video check because of an assault. He had pulled Spain’s European champion Marc Cucurella on his hair. It was also a triumph by Chelsea trainer Enzo Maresca. The Italian had set his team tactically top. She acted aggressively, hungry and very efficient. On the right side with Palmer and Malo Gusto, the blues rolled over the Champions League winner, who had previously celebrated great victories against FC Bayern (2-0) in the quarter-finals and Real Madrid (4: 0) in the semi-finals.

Chelsea received $ 40 million for the final victory in prize money, PSG at least 30 million. For both clubs, the World Cup bloated to 32 participants and 63 games was also very valuable. The next club World Cup takes place in 2029, the venue is still open. FIFA President Gianni Infantino naturally celebrated the XXL tournament with 2.5 million stadium visitors with a superlative “as the most successful club competition in the world”.

The final was a remarkable final act – thanks to Chelsea and especially match winner Palmer. The 23 -year -old winger played big. Already in the 8th minute he missed the Parisian gate from 15 meters with his left magic foot. But then he met twice in the penalty area with a lot of feeling. The resistance of PSG was surprisingly low for all goals.

Chelsea coach Maresca was right. Before the final, he was asked that his Conference League winning team had to suffer a lot on the pitch against the ball-proof PSG ensemble. “Who says that?” He asked back: “We will see that. Of course Paris is a top team, the best in the world. But every game is different.”
