João Palhinha came to FC Bayern for around 50 million euros in summer – combined with great expectations. He has not yet fulfilled this.
So far, João Palhinha has no easy time at Bayern Munich. Nevertheless, the Portuguese international is combative. “I feel like fighting,” he told the “kicker”.
The 29-year-old switched from FC Fulham to Munich in the summer of 2024 for around 50 million euros. Thomas Tuchel had previously expressly wished the defensive midfielder, but was no longer a coach in Munich at the time of the obligation. Nevertheless, Palhinha signed a contract with the Bundesliga club until June 30, 2028.
However, Palhinha has not been able to prevail under Tuchel’s successor Vincent Kompany. The strong competition around Joshua Kimmich, Aleksandar Pavlović and Leon Goretzka also complicates the situation for the midfielder. A muscle bundle tear in the adductors, which he moved to the national team in November, continued to throw him back.
Palhinha spoke of “no easy time” and even described the season as one of the most difficult in his career. Despite speculation about a possible farewell, the midfielder does not think of giving up. He would do everything he can to prove his value, says Palhinha.
