Shock ambush in Palermo. After the 2-1 defeat against Cittadella – the fourth in the last five matches -, some hooligans carried out an attack on the bus of Dionisi’s team, as it returned to the city on the night after the away match. Stones, firecrackers, paper bombs and smoke bombs: this is the attack that the group – made up of around a hundred violent fans – has reserved for footballers and managers, after having already unleashed a verbal complaint against the club in recent weeks.

Palermo’s darkest night this season culminated in fear and tension when, late in the evening, the club bus was stopped near the town of Carini, in the Palermo area, where the attack and the throwing of objects began against the team. The driver immediately returned to Falcone-Borsellino airport and some of the players were forced to return home by taxi, leaving their cars at the Torretta sports center. In the morning, the statement from the Rosanero club arrived: “Palermo intends to harshly condemn last night’s ambush on the bus with players, staff and managers of the first team on board – we read in a note from the club -. The club has always respected any civil form of protest on the part of the fans. Disturbing episode offends not only the dignity of the people, but also the reputation of Palermo FC and its community, of the city of Palermo and of the people of Palermo.”
