Palace teaches Gucci how to skate

The Italian luxury label Gucci and the London streetwear and skate brand Palace have teamed up for a collection.

The collaboration will be available at Gucci’s online concept store “Gucci Vault” as well as at select stores of both companies in various fashion capitals, the company announced on Friday. At first glance, the collaboration between Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michele and the designer duo behind Palace, Lev Tanju and Gareth Skewis, seems contrary. The Florentine brand is also aware of this. It is precisely these apparent opposites from which the design language of the collaboration and the “joint aesthetic expression” have developed, according to a statement. Alessandro Michele emphasizes that the collection was designed for the street, a place where he believes “fashion comes to life”.

The collaboration relies on the Palace-Gucci monogram – from the safe to the motorcycle

Visually, the collaboration’s designs feature signatures from both labels, from Gucci’s famous horsebit loafers to the football tees and tracksuits Palace is known for. At the same time, Palace is also celebrating the premiere with the joint collection, because it is the first time that the skate label is also presenting ready-to-wear clothing for women.

The two brands also pay particular attention to the placement of their respective logos. They adorn T-shirts, jeans, hoodies, various types of bags, shoes, hats of all kinds and umbrellas. Even a safe and a motorcycle including visually coordinated motorcycle clothing will be provided with the combined Palace Gucci monogram. The latter goes back to Palace’s passion for motorsport. The limited motorcycles were developed together with the Italian motorcycle manufacturer Moto Guzzi.

The entire “Gucci x Palace” collection will be available from October 21st
