Owner Taska in Hoogeveen ‘angry’ and ‘furious’ about smashed shop windows

“When I arrived at the store I mainly felt anger and rage,” says Annemarie, owner of Taska Lederwarden in Hoogeveen. She received the message this morning that the windows of her store were smashed last night. The building was also covered in graffiti.

“Boulders were thrown against the windows. Fortunately I have thick glass, otherwise the damage would have been much greater,” says Annemarie. Despite the damage, she opened the doors of the store to her customers this morning. “Everyone who comes in sympathizes with me. They wish me the best of luck.”

Annemarie knows that the perpetrator struck early in the morning. At the same time, a cyclist passed her shop. “The cyclist also looked the perpetrator in the eye.” She hopes that witness will come forward and is also calling on other potential witnesses who have seen something suspicious on Hoofdstraat to come forward. The store owner has also filed a report.

Annemarie will also keep the store open in the coming days, but does not yet know when the damage will be repaired. “With the holidays just around the corner, you never know how long it will last.”
