VVV-Venlo has three points left from the away match against Almere. The Venlo team won 0-1 against Almere City FC with a goal from club icon Danny Post, who tapped the ball into his own goal halfway through the first half.

VVV-Venlo had a hard time against Almere City FC in the initial phase.

About the target
The home team with former VVV member Danny Post had their first chance from a corner after barely three minutes, but Ramon Leeuwin’s shot was blocked by the VVV defense. A free kick by Lance Duijvestijn disappeared shortly afterwards over Delano van Crooij’s goal. A next attempt by Duijvestijn also passed.

First chance for VVV
After fifteen minutes, VVV had its first chance. Nick Venema tried to break free from his defenders, but shot the ball straight into the hands of goalkeeper Nordin Bakker.
Lance Duijvestijn was passed by Bradly van Hoeven moments later, but again couldn’t get the ball against the ropes.

VVV in the lead
Halfway through the first half, VVV took the lead. Joeri Schroijen put the ball in front and VVV club icon Danny Post tapped the ball into his own goal: 0-1 . Almere City FC tried to clear the deficit quickly, kept pushing, but Jeffry Puriel also couldn’t get the ball in from close range.
Eight minutes before the break, goalkeeper Nordin Bakker tapped a well-placed shot by Carl Johansson over his goal.

On the stroke of half-time, Puriel received the ball from Lance Duijvestijn. He came alone for Delano van Crooij, but the VVV goalkeeper snatched the ball from Puriel’s feet and thus prevented the equalizing goal. Moments before, trainer Jos Luhukay had been given a yellow card for comment on the lead.

Second half
Almere City started the second half with three substitutions. Five minutes after the restart Danny Post had the chance to equalize. He shot the ball from the turn just over. Ten minutes later, VVV got away well when Lance Duijvestijn’s move ended on a Venlo arm. However, the ball did not go on the spot.

VVV had to pull out all the stops to maintain the lead and created hardly any chances. A quick counter resulted in no more than a corner.

Almere dangerous
Fifteen minutes before the end, Danny Post was replaced by Jonas Arweiler, who immediately handed over his business card. Delano van Crooij kept his team upright with three excellent saves. The home team kept chasing the equalizer, but the Venlonians held their ground and were able to taste the sweetness of the victory. Even if it took blood, sweat and tears.

With this victory, VVV rises to tenth place with 36 points.
