The Outdoor by ISPO will not take place this year.
Due to insufficient registration numbers, the outdoor fair for 2025 is canceled. Despite intensive efforts, the targeted goal could not be achieved, according to the organizers Messe München and the industry association European Outdoor Group (EOG) on Thursday. It was therefore decided to suspend the fair this year.
“If we cannot achieve these goals – 20 percent more exhibitors: inside and visitors: inside – I see greater opportunities as risks not to let the fair take place this year,” said Christian Schneidermeier, who has only been part of his new role since the beginning of February As a director of the European Outdoor Group. “At the same time, the strategic partnership with Messe Munich will be expanded for the future.”
The organizers had big plans for this year. In September, the Retail Advisory Council was launched in order to strengthen the exchange within the industry and in particular the needs and requirements of international retailers: to incorporate into the development of the 2025 outdoor trade fair. The declared goal was to create a trade fair that meets the requirements of the industry and adapts to the dynamic changes.
Accordingly, the disappointment is now, according to Exhibition Director Lena Haushofer. A lot of energy has been invested in the development and communication of the new design of Outdoor 2025, but the organizers: inside remain optimistic. They are convinced that the ISPO Munich 2025, which continues to take place, will offer a platform in order to discuss the urgent future topics of the outdoor community in the current situation-Haushofer explained for both exhibiting and visiting.
For the EOG, the cancellation of the outdoor already means the second announced event break this year, because the European Outdoor Summit does not take place either.
“We will use the year 2025 to carry out the necessary analyzes and derive the necessary measures in order to be able to get started again in 2026 – with new names on the board, fresh ideas and convincing formats that offer the industry participants real added value” , according to the director Christian Schneidermeier, who has been in office since December.
A special focus will in future be on the content and strategic development of the two trade fair formats ISPO and outdoor.
