Peter Gojowczyk and Dominik Koepfer were eliminated in the round of 16 at the tennis tournament in Atlanta.
Koepfer lost the hard court event 1:6, 7:6 (7:5), 3:6 against James Duckworth from Australia. Gojowczyk lost 3:6, 6:7 (7:9) to Adrian Mannarino from France.
Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios, Gojowczyk’s real opponent in the round of 16, had withdrawn shortly before the match due to injury. Kyrgios, who won the tournament in 2016 and started with a wildcard, said: “I’m very upset that I can’t compete.”
