Otto Waalkes cancels European tour

Otto Waalkes’ planned tour in Emden should have started on April 2nd. A total of 85 shows were scheduled in five European countries. After repeated postponements due to Corona, the musician and comedian has now canceled his planned performances for this year. “Laughing at a distance, singing with masks, celebrating with the fun brake on – these would not be good conditions for an Otto show,” says the organizers.

The current measures and the different regulations in Europe and in the federal states would not guarantee planning security for the tour. However, this is indispensable for the implementation of a tour of the planned magnitude. Furthermore, a postponement by a further year is not feasible for organizational reasons.

“Don’t be sad, because soon the time will finally come again”

The 73-year-old brought the bad news to his fans with a specially composed song, which he shared via Instagram. In it he sings: “There are a million halls. And there I play and sing in front of you all. I like to go on tour in the rain and snow. But unfortunately it’s not possible this year”. It goes on in nursery rhymes: “Just the thought that I can’t play for you now makes me doubly excited for the next tour. So don’t be sad, because soon the time will finally be ripe again and then there will definitely be Otto live”. Let’s hope he’s right.

Since 21.02. the tickets can be returned.
