Otto Ruoppi kicked off KuPS with a great solo run by Kiri.
It was just a few minutes into the second episode, when Don Arifi passed the ball to the 19-year-old midfielder.
Ruoppi took the empty ones away and wheeled the game tool all the way to the Crystal Palace penalty area.
– I saw that Saku [Savolainen] was quite nicely open. He then passed the opponent’s sticks to Pio [Piotr Parzyszek] and he put the ball in the bag, Ruoppi started.
The Polish forward slid in front of almost a thousand KuPS supporters to celebrate the 1-1 draw.
– There were a lot of friends and family there. Yes, it gave me a bit of a chill.
The yellow shirts immediately went after to take a 2–1 lead, but Clinton Antwin the red card changed the balance of power.
– It was a bit of a sad situation. I was on the left for a while. I didn’t quite know how to play it, and the opponent got unvaccinated.
Justin Devenny headed the game to 2–2 just in front of Ruop.
– I was pretty sure that we would handle the job.
The head coach Jarkko Wiss admitted that Ruoppi probably shouldn’t have been packed.
– It was a bad moment for us. I was just about to make a trade, but I thought maybe Otto could take care of that lot. However, the setback came from that very area, Wiss said.
– After that, the match became really difficult.
However, Wiss emphasized that Ruoppi is one of the heroes of this KuPS.
– Otto is a great player. Even last season he didn’t play that much, but now he’s a star.
