Mahbobeh Sabetnia is leaving the Otto Group after just seven months.

The board member responsible for technology and retail will be leaving the company, as the Hamburg trading and services group announced on Friday.

Sabetnia joined the Otto Group in May 2025 and succeeded Sebastian Klauke. As head of technology, business intelligence, e-commerce and corporate ventures, Sabetnia has since been responsible for further developing the group’s digital and AI agenda. It also contributed to strengthening the technological focus of the group of companies.

The technology expert previously worked as Chief Tech Product Officer at the pharmaceutical company Haleon. Before that, she held various management positions at well-known international companies such as Amazon, McDonald’s, HSBC and Mars.

“We would like to thank Mahbobeh Sabetnia for her commitment and contribution to the further development of the Otto Group and wish her continued success in her future tasks,” said Supervisory Board Chairman Alexander Birken.

Their tasks will now initially be taken over by existing board members, according to the announcement. Katy Roewer, Board Member for Finance, Controlling and Human Resources, will also be responsible for corporate ventures in the future. Marcus Ackermann, board member of multichannel distance selling, is expanding his department to include e-commerce, business intelligence and technology. The regulation will come into force on December 1, 2025, and a final decision on the future division of departments will be made at a later date.
