Germany in Recession / Broken Promises and Perspectives

for investors

Itzehoe (ots) – Children should be better off than their parents – for a long time

This generation promise applies in Germany, says Jörg Wiechmann. Now

it threatens to be broken, says the managing director of the Itzehoer Aktien Club

(IAC) with a view to economic development. And he explains why himself

at least investors need not worry.

The chancellor dreams of an upswing, the vice chancellor would rather be climate than

Economics Minister and mainly busy with his heating law,

criticizes Wiechmann. Then the Federal Statistical Office reports: Germany is in

the recession. “Not only as an economist, but also as a citizen with a healthy

Common sense has been seen for a long time: It’s okay with Germany

economically downhill, our prosperity is falling,” states the IAC expert.

One of the main reasons is energy policy: nuclear power plants shut down,

Coal phase-out planned, no adequate and reliable replacement by yet

renewable energies and thus the highest electricity prices worldwide. Second: the

Education policy: The clever minds are Germany’s most important raw material.

“But there are problems with the youngsters,” says Wiechmann, pointing to serious problems

Difficulty reading in fourth graders and the world’s second-to-last place

digital learning.

He also sees migration policy as being on the wrong track: Germany is indeed

an immigration country – but unfortunately because of high social benefits more for

hardly for high-earning skilled workers. This tax and social policy is demotivating

also local specialists and top performers, if they are in Germany

stayed. “Our social benefits, which are high in international comparison, are

consequently no recipe for individual effort and resulting

economic upswing for everyone, but redistribution policy in the sense

economic shortage management,” says the IAC managing director.

Politically, he sees the wrong course, but the German has

Stock market barometer DAX just reached a record level, the dividends

German stocks have risen to a record high. Wiechmann explains it this way:

“Germany as a business location and German corporations are two different pairs

Shoes.” BMW, Mercedes, Bayer and BASF relocated their business activities to

Abroad, if local conditions at home deteriorated, anyway

they earned their money worldwide. Conclusion: “The economic downward path

That’s why we as shareholders – as citizens of this country – don’t care about Germany

however not.”
