Otis Redding III, son of soul singer Otis Redding, died last Tuesday (April 18). He was 59 years old. “It is with a heavy heart that Otis Redding III’s family confirms that he lost his battle with cancer last night,” the deceased’s sister, Karla Redding-Andrews, wrote in a Facebook post on Wednesday (April 19). Karla Redding-Andrews also asked that the family’s privacy be respected as they mourn their great loss, the post continues.
Redding III Like his father, he was a musician throughout his life. Together with his brother Dexter he released six studio albums under the name The Reddings. He also sang his father’s songs on tour. Although the son never became very successful, Otis Redding’s popularity had never been a cause for concern for him. “I don’t mentally pressure myself to beg for record deals,” he said in an interview with the “New York Times”.
