The Austrian ski jumper Manuel Fettner will end his career after the upcoming Olympic season.
“It will not necessarily be easier every year to keep up with the boys,” Fettner is quoted in a message from the Austrian Ski Association four weeks before his 40th birthday.
The anticipation of his last upcoming season was “almost bigger,” said Fettner: “With the Ski Flight World Cup and the Olympic Games, it could be the perfect career end.”
Fettner then looks back on a 25 -year career. In 2001 he made his debut at the age of 15 on the four -hill tour in Innsbruck.
At the Olympic Games in Beijing 2022, Fettner won gold in the team and silver in singles. In addition, at the Nordic Ski World Cup with the 2013 team in Val di Fiemme Gold and 2017 in Lahti bronze.
