Oscar gossip: Jim Carrey would sue Will Smith right away

The Oscar slap continues to occupy all of Hollywood: more and more stars subsequently comment on the incident and sharply criticize Will Smith’s behavior. Now Jim Carrey also expressed himself in clear words.

Standing ovation for Will Smith? Not possible!

Will Smith’s temper got the better of him at the Oscars on Sunday (March 27) and he publicly slapped comedian Chris Rock in the face. The reason for this was a joke about Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head, which Rock – probably unaware of Pinkett’s autoimmune disease, which leads to hair loss – allowed himself.

Later in the evening, Will Smith nevertheless took home the Best Actor Oscar for his role in King Richard and apologized for his misconduct in a tearful acceptance speech at the Academy. He then received thunderous applause from the audience, some viewers even stood up for it.

Jim Carrey is disgusted

Comedian Jim Carrey said he was “disgusted” by the standing ovation. “I felt like Hollywood as a whole was spineless,” the 60-year-old told CBS. For him, this is a sign that Hollywood is not what it used to be. He said unequivocally that he would not have waived a complaint and sued Smith for $ 200 million.

In his opinion, Chris Rock would only not file a complaint because he wanted to avoid trouble. Carrey would not want to be subjected to such humiliation, “because this video will be there forever. It will be ubiquitous. This insult will last for a very long time.”

Violence is not a solution

It is okay for him to call out his displeasure from the audience or later post on social media. “But you don’t have the right to go on stage and smack someone in the face because they said something,” said the Truman Show actor.

In principle, he has nothing against Will Smith, the comedian pushed afterwards, he had “done great things”. But the slap was “not a good moment”. In doing so, he would have affected the entire atmosphere at the Oscars and “cast a shadow on everyone’s shiny moments”.

After the incident, Smith posted an apology to Rock on Instagram. The action is now embarrassing for him and does not reflect the person he wants to be, the actor said about the slap in the face. The Academy’s investigative process had already been initiated at this point, and the Oscar may be subsequently revoked.
