The Dutch film ‘I am not a robot’, in which Henry van Loon from Oirschot plays the male leading role, won the Oscar for best short film on Sunday night. The prize was awarded in the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.
Van Loon followed the presentation in Amsterdam. The comedian would initially go to Los Angeles, but this was canceled at the last minute. He calls the award incredible. “This is something you never experience, this is really a Holy-Shit-what-the-fuck moment.”
For the time being, however, he is not aiming for a career in Hollywood: “I have three children here in the Netherlands and a sold -out theater tour. I am so sober again. But if he read: I want to play in a movie with Will Ferrell.”
‘Great honor’
‘I am not a robot’ is a film by director Victoria Warmerdam. He was in the room in Los Angeles with her producer Trent and lead actress Ellen Parren.
In the film, a woman (pearls) finds out that she might be a robot. Warmerdam and Trent received the prize.
The maker thanked the Academy for this ‘great honor’ and called leading actress Ellen Parren ‘alien’. She also praised her cast and crew: “Your heart and soul is in every frame of this film. This price is also for you.”
