Now Oranienburg is getting serious. In order to save gas and electricity during the energy crisis, there is no hot water flowing in the city administration and in city properties for the time being.

Mayor Alexander Laesicke (43, independent) put these and a number of other measures into effect on Monday. The city announced that all offices had worked together on the basis of proposals from the German Association of Cities and had prepared a catalog of measures.

“Every kilowatt hour that is not consumed now ensures higher fill levels in the gas storage tanks. We can all contribute to this,” said the mayor.

The room temperatures in corridors and stairwells, but also in the offices, are now reduced to 20 degrees Celsius. This also applies to city schools. The gyms should be no more than 17 degrees warm. Day care centers are excluded from savings.

And in Berlin, too, there are different considerations for saving energy. Accordingly, according to district councilor Angelika Schöttler (59, SPD), Tempelhof-Schöneberg also has an eye on switching off hot water heating in schools. In Steglitz-Zehlendorf work is being done to optimize the heat and hot water supply.

The districts could not be reached yesterday at short notice for a detailed statement on the planned measures.
