Groenen played the entire game against Sweden (1-1) on Saturday. Afterwards, the internationals contacted family members in the stands. The Netherlands will continue the group stage on Wednesday with a match against Portugal, which also started the European Championship against Switzerland with a draw (2-2). It is still unclear whether goalkeeper Sari van Veenendaal and defender Aniek Nouwen can participate. The pair were injured against Sweden before half time. It is not yet clear what the investigations in the hospital have yielded. The KNVB hopes to be able to report this on Sunday evening or otherwise on Monday.
