Orange not against Ecuador at World Cup in Qatar? Chile and Peru move to CAS | Foreign football

Chile and Peru are not yet resigned to Ecuador’s participation in the upcoming World Cup. The football associations of both countries are approaching sports tribunal CAS because they do not agree with FIFA’s decision in the case of footballer Byron Castillo.

Ecuador played in World Cup qualifiers with Castillo. According to the Chilean federation, documents show that the right defender was born in 1995 in Tumaco in Colombia and not, as stated on his official documents, in 1998 in Villamil Playas in Ecuador.

FIFA’s Disciplinary Commission decided earlier this month, after analyzing the submissions from all parties, to close the investigation against the Ecuadorian Football Federation. Chile then appealed, but that too proved to be in vain. FIFA confirmed the decision “that the player has permanent citizenship of Ecuador according to Article 5, paragraph 1 of the Implementing Regulations of FIFA’s Statutes”.

Chile and Peru are now trying to prove their point through the CAS. Ecuador finished fourth in the South American qualifying zone for the World Cup. Peru just missed a World Cup ticket with a fifth place. Chile finished seventh.

Ecuador is placed in a group at the World Cup with the Netherlands, Senegal and Qatar.
