Opponents of Mahmoud Charr arrested at airport

The series of bankruptcies, bad luck and mishaps for former world boxing champion Mahmoud Charr continues.

Latest example of Charr’s losing streak: Loud “Picture” his actual opponent Jeanpierre Augustin was arrested on Monday at the airport in his US homeland.

“Apparently there was still some title against him in the USA,” quoted the tabloid Charr’s promoter Erol Ceylan, who had signed Augustin for a fight against Charr in Hamburg next Saturday.

Mahmoud Charr: “It’s unbelievable what happened to me”

Particularly bitter: Augustin, whose fight record reads quite impressively with 18 wins and one defeat, already had part of the fight purse in the amount of 5000 dollars. In addition, a flight ticket was deposited in the name of the 34-year-old.

“Life is like a surprise bag, you never know what to expect. It’s unbelievable what happened to me,” Charr commented on the incident.

After all: A replacement opponent for the 37-year-old has already been found. Nicola Milacic (21 wins, two losses) gets into the ring against Charr in the Hanseatic city. “He was preparing for a competition and was supposed to fight in England, but Erol was able to convince him to compete against me now,” said the “Diamond Boy”.

Don King sours Mahmoud Charr twice

Charr has faced repeated setbacks in recent months. Twice, most recently in early January 2022, the notorious promoter Don King canceled a scheduled world championship fight against Trevor Bryan by not sending Charr the fight contract.

As a result, the German could not apply for a P1 visa for business activities in the USA.

“We have sued Don King and the WBA. The case is still pending in the United States. My advisor Marco Schmidt is confident that we will win,” said Charr.

But the matter is “a minor matter. I’m concentrating on my opponent and I’m focused on winning, everything else has no place in my life at the moment”.
