Enjoy ten days of music in the Muziekgebouw aan het IJ in Amsterdam. A great party. During one of the concerts I sit next to a young man who is constantly moving his left leg. I feel the vibrations in my chair. I politely ask him if he wants to stop. “I will do my best,” he says, “but I am extremely nervous.”
After the concert: “May I ask you why you are so extremely nervous?” “I am the composer” – and he rushes forward to receive thunderous applause.
