Opinion | Boring – NRC

Granddaughter (8) attends a Christian school. Not out of conviction, but it was the only good school in the area. After school she sits with me on the couch with hot chocolate and I ask how it was. She usually sticks to “fun”, but now there is more to come. She says that there was an Advent celebration, that she had been allowed to light candles and that they had sung songs. It would have been a lot of fun: “Just that story,” she sighs. “About Jesus?” I guess. “Yes,” she says. “That is so boring. I already heard that in group one. It’s the same every time.”
