Injured in the thigh
Defending champions France will be without midfielder N’Golo Kanté at the World Cup in Qatar. The 31-year-old had to undergo surgery for a hamstring injury and is expected to be out for four months, Chelsea announced on Tuesday evening.
Kanté, who was one of the top performers in the Équipe Tricolore’s World Cup triumph in Russia in 2018, had played his last international match at the beginning of June and was then injured. With a market value of 40 million euros, he is one of the 20 most valuable professionals in his country. Coach Didier Deschamps’ French side meet Australia, Denmark and Tunisia in the preliminary round of the finals (20 November to 18 December).
