Operated Bruno Martins Indi no longer in action for AZ and Orange this year

A big downer for Bruno Martins Indi. The 30-year-old defender of AZ will no longer be in action this calendar year. The Alkmaar club reports that Martins Indi has successfully undergone surgery on his thigh and that he is out of circulation until the winter break.

In the derby last weekend against Ajax (2-1 win), Bruno Martins Indi sustained a muscle injury in his thigh. The AZ player then canceled for the last international match. The injury is more severe than expected and the World Cup comes too early for the central defender. National coach Louis van Gaal reported this after the international match against Belgium (1-0). “He won’t make it.”

At the 2014 World Cup, Martins Indi was still a basic player in Louis van Gaal’s team. He then formed the central trio in the five-man defence, together with Ron Vlaar and Stefan de Vrij. The Orange placed third during that world championship in Brazil.

There was good news for Remko Pasveer after the Nations League game against the southern neighbors. Ajax’s keeper can pack his suitcase for the upcoming World Cup. That’s what Van Gaal told about the 38-year-old goalkeeper. Pasveer kept clean against both Poland (0-2) and Belgium (1-0).

The World Cup in Qatar starts for the Dutch national team on Monday, November 21 at 5 p.m. with the first group match against Senegal.
