The storks are inextricably linked to the environment. The nest is a popular place for stork savings to breed there. Both from the terrace of the business and from the public road you can look out directly on the nest. Many Eemnessers have closed the storks in their hearts.
In fact: when Sander Molenaar and his wife became the owner of the Eemnes tea garden, they decided to give one of the breeding storks the name Brave Hendrik and to name their business.
But January 1 it went horribly wrong, Molenaar says. ‘I came to do a check here and then I found the nest in the parking lot. That was very intense. ” The tree on which the nest was built was already quite outdated, giving the wind the last push.
And with the breeding season, there is no time to lose and there must be a new breeding ground for the stork set as soon as possible. ‘We expect Brave Hendrik to nest again the last week of February. He has already been spotted in the polder. “
In Bres for Nest
So Dick Jonkers, Vogelaar and honorary member of the Friends of ‘t Gooi foundation decided to commit himself to the nest. The foundation has a fund with which they can support local initiatives in the field of environment and nature. A new nest is paid from that fund.
There is a price tag on the construction of a new nest, it is about 2,000 euros. But according to Jonkers that is necessary. For example, a pole must be placed so that water can run away. A specially painted nest comes on it. “And the builder himself must of course also receive compensation,” Jonkers adds. There will also be a sign with information about the animals.
At the moment the nest builder is putting the finishing touches of a brand new nest for the winged couple. It is still unclear when exactly the nest will be replaced.
