In the period between July 2023 and June 2024, only two dental hygienists were active in the Flemish residential care centers. This is according to figures that Flemish MP Freija van den Driessche has requested from the Flemish Minister for Health Caroline Gennez (Vooruit). “This is a missed opportunity for vulnerable elderly people, who often do not have access to adequate oral care,” responds Van den Driessche.
