Only events with less impact in Maria-Hendrikapark
The Sinner’s Day festival in Maria-Hendrika Park featured various headliners of international allure and attracted thousands of visitors from home and abroad last weekend.
Noise disturbance
During the construction and the duration of the festival, it became apparent that the event meadow in the park has its limitations. On the one hand in terms of logistics structure, but on the other hand also in terms of impact on the environment. There were several noise complaints from the neighbourhood. For these reasons, multi-day festivals with a heavy logistical impact, DJ sets or rock concerts will no longer take place in the Maria-Hendrikapark in the future.
Events with less impact on the environment, such as family shows, theater or classical concerts, will still be possible. “The balance we always strive for was not achieved this weekend. We immediately draw the necessary lessons from this: the event site will certainly still be used, but not for events with such an impact,” says Mayor Bart Tommelein.
