In the infamous case surrounding the rapes of Gisèle Pélicot in Mazan, southern France, the appeal judgment was handed down on Thursday. Husamettin D. (44), the only defendant who actually appealed, was sentenced to ten years in prison. At first instance he was given nine years, but the court of appeal in Nîmes imposed a heavier sentence. The attorney general had demanded twelve years.
