Yle is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, which was also reflected in the broadcast of the weekend’s New Music Competition.
Finland’s 1985 Eurovision representative Sonja Lumme performed with her representative song during the intermission of the competition Long live life. The song took ninth place in the Eurovision Song Contest in Gothenburg.
Before Lumpee’s song, the UMK broadcast showed a short summary of various programs produced and presented by Yle. The broadcast also featured a clip from Lumpee’s Eurovision qualifying performance from the 80s.
Lumme, 64, appeared on the UMK broadcast in an outfit matching the Eurovision performance outfit. Numerous dancers were seen on stage, and the Stages were made to imitate the stages of the 80s.

Turisti, Averagekidluke, Ares and Elastinen were also seen as an interim show. The rappers performed a remix version of Turist How much from the song. However, some of the viewers rejected the intermission number as inappropriate for a program like UMK.
