Owner of NFL team Carolina Panthers David Tepper has come under fire after his rampage was caught on video taken by a fan.
Tepper, 66, was watching a Panthers game in Jacksonville when he lost his temper in the VIP box.
The billionaire’s team was badly beaten by the Jacksonville Jaguars, and so the owner seemed to throw his drink down the necks of the fans sitting in front.
Economic magazine Forbes according to Tepper is the 91st richest person in the world. His fortune is 20.6 billion dollars, or about 18.7 billion euros.
The NFL and the Pathers organization have been called upon to respond to the outrageous behavior of the owner. Among other things NBC wrote that pohatta “not only crossed the line of good taste, but jumped over it flat-footed”.
At the time of writing, neither the league nor the club have commented on the incident in any way.
Tepper has a previous history of hot-headed behavior, The Athletic tells. In November, he marched out of the team’s locker room after a loss and screamed curses.
The next day, the billionaire fired the head coach To Frank Reich, who had managed to coach only 11 matches. This was the second shortest streak in NFL history.
The Panthers have not made the playoffs in a single season since Tepper bought the club in 2018. The price tag was $2.3 billion, or about €2.1 billion.
