Not only did relatively many North Hollanders experience an explosion, but also ‘we’ are relatively concerned about explosions in our area. The same survey by Kieskompas shows that 38 percent of North Hollanders are afraid that an explosion will take place in them (still). That number is only higher in Flevoland and South Holland.
Not just explosions in large cities
The vast majority of explosions in our province take place in Amsterdam, but it is no longer the case that there are only explosions in the big cities. Last Monday, for example, there was another explosion at a house in Velserbroek and there were explosions at Texel and Oosthuizen at the beginning of this year.
According to the police, more than half of the incidents are not about settlements in the criminal environment, but about attacks arising from relational conflicts and personal revenge actions. “It seems to be a worrying trend to settle quarrels with an attack,” said the police in November.
‘Fighting is top priority’
Fighting explosions is a top priority for the police. “It just remains dangerous, those bombs”, emphasized police spokesman Roderick de Veen earlier opposite NH.
The police are focusing on extra checks and investigation, but successful interventions, such as The Returne OosHuurenshow that rapid reports from local residents can make a big difference. “They are the experts of their own street,” said De Veen. “They will be the first to notice if something is not fluff and can quickly call in the police.”
