One in four Belgians of working age is neither working nor looking for a job. HLN work expert Stijn Baert: “Abolition of the marriage quotient must change that”

Only in two European countries are there more inactive people than in Belgium. These are people between 20 and 64 years old who do not have work and are not looking for one. Sometimes they even suffer financially if they do start working. “I think that the De Wever government should quickly implement the promised abolition of the marriage quotient,” says HLN work expert Stijn Baert. If that tax benefit disappears, hundreds of thousands of couples will pay more taxes.
