Once again “harsh consequences” were called for for Noussair Mazraoui

The Central Council of Jews has also criticized FC Bayern Munich for its handling of defender Noussair Mazraoui’s pro-Palestine post.

Josef Schuster, President of the Central Council, told the “Süddeutsche Zeitung” on Monday that he was demanding “visibly harsh consequences for the player”: “It cannot remain a simple report.”

Schuster explained that he had expected from Mazraoui that “a professional footballer who also serves as a role model would, against this background, unequivocally condemn Hamas terror, support Israel’s right to exist and reject anti-Semitism on German streets.”

In the same statement, Schuster also praised FC Bayern for its “always clear stance towards Israel and Jewish life in Germany.”

FC Bayern: Mazraoui comeback against Galatasaray?

Bayern professional Mazraoui shared a post on Instagram saying, among other things, that the “oppressed brothers in Palestine” should “achieve victory” in the conflict with Israel.

After a “detailed and clarifying conversation,” FC Bayern refrained from having any consequences for the Moroccan and emphasized in a statement that Mazraoui condemns “every type of terrorism and every terrorist organization.” Alon Meyer, President of Makkabi Germany, then described the club’s reaction as inadequate.

Mazraoui traveled with Bayern on Monday to the Champions League game against Turkish record champions Galatasaray on Tuesday (6:45 p.m. CEST/Prime Video). It initially remained unclear whether the Moroccan would be able to take part again after his muscular problems.
