On Terrence Boyd’s debut: FCK narrowly wins against Halleschen FC, football | 3rd League – 3rd League – Football

Even before the game, all eyes were wide open at 1. FC Kaiserslautern Newcomer Terrence Boyd directed. The striker’s commitment had caused great euphoria in the Red Devils’ environment, Boyd made his debut for FCK against his former club Halle. The attacker was in the starting eleven of the Palatinate.

Boyd sees a yellow card early

And Boyd was the center of attention. After an aerial duel with Jan Löhmannsröben, the new signing saw a yellow card in the fourth minute after catching his opponent in the face with his elbow. The start of a heated phase with many fouls and interruptions.

Hanslik saves on the line

It was the home side who had the first real chance of the game. After a cross from Philipp Hercher, Mike Wunderlich was denied by Halle keeper Tim Schreiber (13th minute). As a result, the FCK again had shots from dangerous positions by Wunderlich (16th) and Rene Klingenburg (20th), but both shots remained harmless. In the 29th minute, Boyd narrowly missed a Hercher pass from a tight angle, just a few centimeters from his debut goal. A little later, Halle also had the first top-class goal: FCK offensive player Daniel Hanslik cleared a header from Jonas Nietfeld after a corner by Niklas Kreuzer on the line (33′).

Wunderlich breaks the spell

Kaiserslautern then took the lead in the 38th minute. After a back pass from Hercher from the right, Wunderlich scored low from 16 meters to give the home side a deserved 1-0 lead. Shortly thereafter, FCK could have followed up, but Hendrick Zuck missed the mark (41′). That’s how the Red Devils went into the break with a narrow lead.

In the second half, 1. FC Kaiserslautern initially withdrew and let Halle come. But the guests could not capitalize on it, the best defense in the league (13 goals conceded) was certain. In a relief attack, Boyd missed the home side’s first chance in the second half (63′).

Shcherbakovski causes a moment of shock

At the same time, Boyd’s action, who was substituted shortly afterwards, was the starting signal for a more offensive phase at FCK. First, Hercher missed (74′), two minutes later, substitute Muhammed Kiprit failed at Halle’s keeper Schreiber. On the other side, Jan Shcherbakovski caused a moment of shock. The substitute attacker hit the crossbar for HFC (82nd).

Unbeaten in nine league games

In the final phase Halle was then all forward, but the defense of the Palatinate held up. In the end it was a narrow 1-0 win for the home side. The FCK is at least for a few hours in direct promotion rank two and is unbeaten in nine league games.

“We had a difficult, complicated game today against a team fighting relegation,” said FCK coach Marco Antwerpen after the game. The opening goal “gave a lot back to his team”.

Whimsical and Boyd satisfied

Goal scorer Wunderlich was also happy about the successful action, which was ultimately worth three points. “At the beginning of the season, when things weren’t going that well, the ball would probably have flown out of the stadium,” said the 35-year-old.
