In 2023 there were 94 accidents in road works in West Flanders, with a total of 108 victims. In 2019, that number was lower, at 68 traffic accidents at road works and 78 victims.
“Road works often ensure a new or unexpected traffic situation. Think of less or narrower lanes, ashes or roads. That makes slower and extra attentive driving necessary,” says Flemish MP Gianna Werbrouck of Vooruit.
