The Mother Power Foundation consists of about fifty women who, for example, try to prevent nuisance from young people or hand out food parcels. The foundation also gives away the products itself.
“It is distributed among the people who are already known here, who occasionally receive a food package,” says Nies Medema, board member of the foundation. “Especially around here, in the Knijtijzerbuurt.”
The Public Prosecution Service gives away things more often. In 2024 it was about perfumes from criminals. “It sounds a bit strange, but it is not that easy,” says De Beukelaer. “You would say it’s quite simple, but we just signed an agreement to transfer those things. So the law has sometimes gotten in the way.”
