Olympique Lyon is not moving in Ligue 1. After four defeats in a row, coach Peter Bosz is not (yet) up for debate, although a “disappointed” president, Jean-Michel Aulas, sounded critical and could not resist a dig at Chelsea and its new owner Todd Boehly.
“I’m not here to start a revolution. I’m not a billionaire to fire a man who won the Champions League (Thomas Tuchel; ed.) Chelsea style,” Aulas said (quoted via “L’Equipe”). “I argue primarily in the interests of the club. And he will stay.” A report about an alleged ultimatum to Bosz had already made the rounds in September – OL’s denial followed promptly.

Bosz, who has been in office since May 2021, had a good start to the new season with Lyon and won four of the first five games, but then got off track – he is currently seventh. According to “Foot Mercato”, after the 0-1 draw against Paris Saint-Germain on September 18, there was a crisis meeting between club boss Aulas, technical director Vincent Ponsot and Bosz. “People ask questions because a manager who has a good squad and suffers four losses in a row has an absolute responsibility. But it is fully shared with that of the players and that of the President,” Aulas said.
President Aulas: Olympique Lyon hold players accountable
He himself remains “confident” with regard to the upcoming tasks that lie ahead of Lyon. “It’s the job of leadership to create the conditions for things to go well. We weren’t happy with all the players in Lens, so I said it wasn’t a problem with the coaching or the system.” Newcomers to Corentin Tolisso (27) and Alexandre Lacazette (31).
