The fans were already amazed at the World Cup in Budapest. Just four months after the birth of her son, two-time Olympic 400m champion Shaunae Miller-Uibo (29) was back on the track. Now comes the encore.
She gives hers ISTAF-Premiere, starts on Sunday in the Berlin Olympic Stadium (from 2 p.m.).
The training colleague and friend of Germany’s European champion Gina Lückenkemper (26) does not come alone. The sprinter from the Bahamas brings her husband Maciel Uibo (Estonia/World Championship silver 2019 in the decathlon) and of course his son Maciel Junior.
“I’m great”
And Shaunae has a message, also for the many critics: “To all the mothers out there: You can do anything you put your mind to, but do it at your own pace. I’ve decided to get back on track two and a half months after giving birth and I’m doing great.”
In Budapest, the superstar dropped out as expected with 52.65 seconds (her personal best is 48.36 seconds), but afterwards said: “I really enjoyed it. It was exciting. My body has changed a bit, it still needs time. But I feel good and stronger. But the most important message is: I’ll be back.” Because in Paris at the 2024 Olympics, the young mother wants to do the gold hat-trick and become Olympic champion in the 400m for the third time in a row. No woman has ever done that.
The Berlin ISTAF is another test on the way there. Shaunae Miller-Uibo: “I’m really looking forward to the Olympic Stadium, the fast train and the great Berlin audience.”
