The sailor from Ostend, who had climbed to fourth place in the rankings on Thursday, drops two places and is now in sixth place with 75 points, 30 points behind the Irish leader Eve McMahon. Plasschaert will take part in the medal competitions on Saturday, which are reserved for the top ten.
In the Nacra 17, Lucas Claeyssens and Eline Verstraelen finished in fourteenth place with 97 points after a seventeenth, seventh, ninth and eleventh place in Friday’s races. The Argentinians Mateo Majdalani and Eugenia Bosco took the lead with 28 points. Hannelien Borghijs and Mathieu Pinsart finished 34th after sixteenth and two fifteenth places in the ‘silver’ fleet.
In the 49er category, Yannick Lefèbvre and Jules Cock finished thirteenth, fifth and thirteenth in the three regattas of the ‘silver’ fleet on Friday. They finished the competition in 27th place. William De Smet in turn finished 49th in the general classification of the ILCA 7 after finishing eighteenth and eighth in the two regattas in the ‘silver’ fleet.
Minh Claeys finished 42nd in Formula Kite on Thursday with a total of 216 points.
