Mathias Olesen will not extend his expiring contract at 1st FC Köln. The Luxembourg has confirmed that he will leave the billy goats after six years. The 24-year-old has not yet found a new club. However, several second division teams from Germany should be interested in the six.
Oleses told the kicker: “My conversations with FC were always open and honest. In the end we found the best solution for both sides,” said Olesen, who switched from Eintracht Trier to FC in 2019. “I want to take the next step in summer, try something new because I need regular playing time for my development.”
The Luxemburger no longer got this season in the 2nd Bundesliga at FC. Already in the pre-season Oleses was loaned to Switzerland in the second half of Cologne to Yverdon-les-Bains because the midfielder in the Bundesliga had no chance.
