Oldenburg secures relegation in the BBL

The MHP giants Ludwigsburg stay in the top group in the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL). Coach John Patrick’s team defeated the Hakro Merlins Crailsheim 77:75 (47:30) in the derby on Saturday and thus secured fourth place in the table. The best pitcher of the game was Ludwigsburg’s Jonah Radebaugh with 21 points.

At the other end of the table, EWE Baskets Oldenburg celebrated relegation early on Saturday evening. The Baskets won the MLP Academics Heidelberg 95:90 (48:46) and can no longer slip down to one of the two relegation places. Phil Pressey and Reggie Lynch were the guests’ best pitchers with 15 points each.

Syntainics MBC Weißenfels is not yet finally saved. Coach Igor Jovovic’s team lost 86:92 (51:43) to s.Oliver Würzburg. It was the fourth defeat in a row for MBC. With 20:44 points, Weißenfels remains in 16th place, which would be enough to stay up in the league at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, the Niners Chemnitz suffered a surprising defeat. In the home game, the Saxons, who had already qualified for the play-offs, lost 68:77 (43:34) to the Löwen Braunschweig.
